Moovit and Transport for the North Team Up to Provide Essential Workers a Safe Journey as Northern England Enters Lockdown

Moovit Transport for North Partnership Announcement

Navigating public transport can be confusing. Not knowing which bus or rail service to take which stop to wait at, or how much the journey will cost can be stressful and reduces rider confidence. This can be even more confusing in areas that are facing renewed lockdown measures, like northeast UK, for example.

With restricted mobility, transport timetables constantly change, leaving essential workers relying on public transport facing unforeseen service disruptions, further magnifying the uneasiness they feel when trying to navigate public transport.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce that we’ve teamed up with Transport for the North (TfN), England’s first subnational transport body which represents Northern England’s twenty local transport authorities. Together, we’re committed to simplifying urban mobility for all and giving local essential workers the digital tools they need to safely and smoothly get to their destination.

Moovit is tapping TfN’s Open Data Hub for precise disruptions data, enabling riders to plan the most accurate journeys with Moovit, including the most updated transit changes. With the most reliable urban mobility data, essential workers can travel with confidence. The Open Data Hub is a platform providing open-source fares and disruptions data for developers and is an initiative of TfN’s £150 million Integrated and Smart Travel programme. The Open Data Hub is aiming to make it easier for passengers to plan and stay up to date on their transport journeys, by making information more accessible.
