Connects public transit riders to drivers headed in the same direction. For about the same price as public transit, passengers save time and enjoy a more comfortable ride, while drivers save some money by sharing the cost of the commute.
Use Moovit’s trip planner and find carpool rides together with public transit results.

The Carpool system works best when both drivers and passengers uphold the Carpool Pact.
Drivers: Do your best to arrive on time, communicate any specifics or changes with your passengers, and above all, drive safely.
Passengers: Respect your driver’s time and efforts, arrive on time to the pickup location. Remember, this is not a taxi service and do not expect the driver to change his/her route for you. Respect your driver choices when it comes to music and smoking in the car.
In order to book a ride both the rider and driver need to verify their phone numbers and login using Facebook. Your phone number will only be shown to each other after you book a ride.
We use Facebook to build trust with our user community and to give you more information when choosing passengers / your drivers.
To boost confidence in the service community members are asked to use their real names (not nicknames) and real images only. Both driver and passenger will be able to view each other’s profile and have the choice of who they will or will not ride with. Both sides have to agree for the ride to take place.
Yes. Both drivers and passengers have the option to rank each other after the trip is complete. The maximum score is 5 stars, 1 star is the lowest score. These ratings will appear next to the user’s profile. Passengers and drivers with a low rating will not be able to use the service.
In short, each driver sets their own ride price. For each ride, Moovit calculates both a suggested price and a maximum price according to the length of the trip, cost of fuel, etc. When entering a ride into the Carpool system, the driver may choose to stick with the suggested price or set their ride price higher or lower. Usually the amount is similar to a parallel public transit ride.
No. The service is an online platform for connecting passengers to drivers who are traveling in the same direction and want to share trips. Passengers using the service participate in the driver’s travel expenses. (just like back in college!) Our Terms of Service do not allow commercial or for-profit use.
Here are three ways to ride!
Once you’ve found a relevant ride, tap the “Book ride” button at the bottom of the screen. This sends a booking request to the driver letting him/her know that you would like to join their ride. Once the driver approves your request, the ride is booked and you will be notified via an app notification and an SMS.
Each ride includes the driver’s name, Facebook info, contact details, and car details. We highly recommend contacting the driver before the ride to make sure you know exactly where and when the ride begins.
You can use any major credit card to pay and the payments are transferred directly to the driver’s bank account once a month from Moovit.
Of course. At any point until the ride time, you may cancel your ride by going to “Ride Details” and tapping “Cancel”. That said, please be respectful of your driver and if you must cancel, please do so as far in advance as you can so the driver can accept other ride requests.
From within the Moovit Carpool app, tap a date or tap the red “+” at the bottom right. Enter your departure and destination addresses and the time you’ll be leaving.
For recurring rides, please note that only confirmed rides are offered to users in the Moovit app. Confirm your rides directly in the driver app or by responding to the “confirm” notification you’ll receive before each ride. In this notification, you’ll be able to confirm, delete or edit the ride time.
You can do so within the ride details. For a recurring ride, you can choose to edit a particular ride only or apply the change to all such rides.
Each ride has a suggested price calculated according to the trip distance. Tapping the edit button next to the ride will allow you to lower the price or raise it. Lowering the price will make your ride more attractive to potential passengers.
Please note, if a ride request is for only a percentage of your trip, the price will be the same percentage from the price you set for the full trip. For example, if a request is for 80% of your trip (by distance), the price will be 80% of the price you set.
Passengers will be waiting for you at the designated pick-up location on the specified time. You can view their name, photo, and their phone number. We recommend contacting the passenger prior to the ride to make sure he is clear on the ride details and doesn’t have any questions.
It is recommended (but not required) to write a little about yourself. This additional information is shown to passengers to help them decide if they’d like to join you on your trip. This is your opportunity to specify what type of music you’ll be listening to during the trip (if any), if you want quiet if you must leave on time, if you smoke, if you’ll be bringing coffee or if your dog will be along for the ride as well.
The responsibility of insurance coverage is on the driver. You may want to make sure your insurance policy covers additional passengers/travel partners.
The money from passenger expense participation in your rides will be transferred once a month directly to your bank account. Please ensure that you have entered your bank details into the app (menu item: Payment Information)
