Extreme Barcelona announces its commitment to sustainable mobility

Moovit partners with Extreme Barcelona to help young locals find the most efficient and convenient public and shared transport routes to watch Extreme Barcelona’s urban sporting event this weekend

Barcelona – September, 2022

Extreme Barcelona and Moovit, an Intel company and creator of the popular mobility app, announced a partnership to help locals and tourists in Barcelona reach the Extreme Barcelona event, being held September 16-18, efficiently and conveniently.

Moovit is the first mobility application that Extreme Barcelona has partnered with. Moovit’s free iOS, Android, and Web app is available for free to users in Barcelona looking to reach Extreme Barcelon’s urban sport event at Parc del Fòrum. Moovit combines official information from public transit agencies as well as crowdsourced information to calculate the best routes for each journey with urban mobility options such as metro, tram, bus, bike, e-scooter, and e-bike mobility services.

The use of personal mobility vehicles (PMV), which has quickly gained popularity in many cities around the world, is usually an electrical small and light weight means of transport for short-distance trips. These PMV’s are a great way to complete an entire journey, or can be used in conjunction with public transport as part of the first or last segment of the journey.

In its 12th edition, Extreme Barcelona offers a new, free entry format to promote culture and urban sports throughout the city. The collaboration between Extreme Barcelona and Moovit was born with the aim of promoting sustainable mobility in the city of Barcelona among the younger generation.

“Barcelona is a benchmark for urban sports. It is an iconic city for skaters and bikers who enjoy the city and its different spots. A city that is also a benchmark in terms of mobility, where year after year it adds new initiatives to promote the use of all the mobility solutions that Barcelona offers. We believe that selecting Moovit as a partner of this Event is essential to promoting said mobility, especially for this specific type of event, encouraging sustainable travel to the Parc del Fòrum,” said Joll Chamorro, Partnerships Manager at SevenMila, Extreme Barcelona.

Manuel Molés, responsible for partnerships at Moovit in Europe, affirms this: “Extreme Barcelona is a very impactful event, especially for the younger generation who are more reliant on public and shared mobility services. We see how committed they are, in its 12th edition, to improving the movements of fans, and to simultaneously reduce their carbon footprint. This is significant in the world of sport and we hope it will serve as a reference for future events, both inside and outside of Spain.”

Enjoy Extreme Barcelona September 16-18, 2022, an event open to the public at the Parc del Fòrum. Sport and urban culture are already preparing to experience an epic weekend in Barcelona. Are you going to miss it?

Moovit can be downloaded on Google Play and on the App Store.
