Moovit Launches Location-Based Advertising for Brands to Connect with Transit Riders on the Go

The new platform enables advertisers to tap into the more than 1 billion transit riders in 3,500 cities across 112 countries that Moovit has guided; First partners include Aleph Group, Triboo and Benefit Media

San Francisco – July 2022

Moovit, an Intel company, a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions provider and creator of the popular urban mobility app, today announced a new location-based advertising platform that helps local retailers and global brands reach on-the-go customers. Moovit users will soon receive sponsored recommendations for nearby businesses such as coffee shops, grocery stores, shops, and banks such as Bank Hapoalim, Israel’s largest bank, the first to utilize Moovit’s advertising platform. In addition, Moovit is announcing a partnership with Aleph, a leading global enabler of digital advertising, which will provide advertisers in Latin America and Spain access to Moovit’s new ad platform. Moovit is also partnering with two digital advertising companies in Italy and Israel.

Moovit’s free apps for iOS, Android, and the Web guide people in getting around town effectively and conveniently, using any mode of shared transport. Introduced in 2012, it has served over 1.4 Billion users in more than 3,500 cities across 112 countries.

Often, while on the way to or from a bus or train station, public transit riders act on in-the-moment purchasing decisions such as buying a coffee on the way to work or buying groceries on the way home.

Moovit’s new location-based advertising platform enables people en route to a destination to receive relevant ad content based on their current location and route points during their journey— origin, destination and points of transfer.

This enables local and global businesses — coffee shops, fast food chains, banks, grocery stores, shopping centers, and more — to attract customers at a moment when they are most likely to act, whether they are waiting for a bus nearby or catching a train to meet some friends. On the other hand, Moovit users will see relevant content and how far away it is from their current location and final destination.

“In markets across the globe, Moovit’s new location-based advertising platform allows brands to leverage moments when users are out and about to create meaningful touchpoints,” said Yovav Meydad, Moovit’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer. “Our ultimate goal is to help people get around town effectively and conveniently, and that includes providing an app experience with relevant nearby information to each user.”

Bank Hapoalim, Israel’s largest bank, is the first to begin advertising on Moovit’s platform in Israel.

“We always strive to find innovative channels for presenting Bank Hapoalim’s value propositions at a time and place that our customers and potential customers need the most,” said Uri Brenner, Bank Hapoalim’s Digital Media Manager. “Moovit’s platform will allow us to accurately reach audiences, according to their location.”

Moovit has also strategically partnered with several companies to connect with advertisers around the world. Internet Media Service (IMS), part of Aleph Group Inc and global partner of the world’s leading digital platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Snap, and Warner Music, will be representing Moovit in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Spain; digital transformation agency Triboo will represent Moovit in Italy, and Benefit Media in Israel.

“New alliances represent new opportunities and, with this new partnership, Moovit joins Aleph’s portfolio of strategic partners. Together, we can offer innovative advertising solutions for those companies aiming to reach new audiences,” said Ignacio Vidaguren, IMS CEO and Aleph COO.
