How Urban Mobility is Changing and What Riders Want Now

Published: August 13, 2020

In our post-COVID-19 new normal, public transportation is facing a whole new reality, and at this point, most agencies have more questions than answers. How is urban mobility changing? Will public transportation survive – and if so, what can make it thrive? What do riders need to be attracted back to public transit that makes them feel safe and supported as they return to a different kind of daily life?

To answer these questions and more, we surveyed tens of thousands of Moovit users in major cities in the UK, US, France, Germany, and Australia. The goal was to help agencies and operators better understand what their riders want and need to give them confidence in returning to mass transit.

Moovit’s global reach, with 840 million users spread across 3,200 cities in 106 countries allows us to be in touch and connected with our users and their needs. We’re leveraging that connection to fill the knowledge gaps between what riders want and need now and the services and safety mechanisms agencies offer to create a safe and happy return to mass transit for all.
