The leading commuter app helps voters across 11 states find and navigate to their polling stations with the smoothest journey possible
Moovit, creator behind the #1 commuter app which has served more than 1.5 billion users in 3,500 cities across 112 countries, is proud to announce its participation in this election season by integrating tens of thousands of polling locations from 130 counties across 11 states into the Moovit app. In addition, Moovit is providing users with quick access to voter registration, information, and which transit agencies are offering free rides.
This election, voters can use the free Moovit iOS, Android, or Web app to easily plan and navigate transit journeys to their polling station. The process is simple: Open Moovit and type the polling place name or address into the search bar. Moovit will then find the best Suggested Routes via public and shared transportation options such as bus, train, metro, subway, light rail, cable car, ferry, bike, scooter, moped, Uber, or Lyft. To make sure it’s clear to users which polling station is theirs, Moovit is including the district or ward and precinct number alongside the name of the polling location.
Moovit has also begun sharing voting information with users about when and where to register to vote, which transit agencies are offering free rides, and will update users regarding any transit changes on Election Day.
“We’re pleased to encourage voting throughout the United States by adding myriads of new POIs into the Moovit app,” said Ziv Kabaretti, Moovit’s VP Product. “Our dedicated efforts to provide easier planning and navigating to get to the polls aim to help those eligible to exercise their voting rights.”
Moovit combines official information from transit agencies as well as crowdsourced information to calculate the best route for each journey. The app provides users with real-time arrival information, Live Directions with step-by-step guidance for the entire journey, and Service Alerts so they can avoid disruptions.
