Moovit Enables Seamless Transit Card Top-Ups in São Paulo Thanks to Primova Partnership

Commuters in Latin America’s largest city can now add credits to their Bilhete Único transit card directly in the Moovit app and plan their trips—all in one place

São Paulo, October 22, 2025

Moovit, creator of the #1 commuter app which has guided 1.5 billion people across 3,500 cities, is making travel in São Paulo, Brazil, even easier. In partnership with Primova, Moovit users can now purchase and top up their Bilhete Único cards directly through the app, further strengthening Moovit’s position as a one-stop hub for urban mobility solutions.

Through this integration, riders can safely and conveniently add transit credits without leaving the Moovit app. The technology seamlessly connects ticketing systems and promotes a smarter, more connected mobility ecosystem, linking passengers, operators, and public agencies.

To add credits, users simply open the Tickets tab, register their Bilhete Único card, the most used transport card in São Paulo, and complete their payment via Pix, an instant payment solution available in Brazil. Multiple Bilhete Único cards can be registered on the same device. Credits can be purchased for single, daily, or monthly passes, including multimodal fare integrations.

Once the top-up is complete, riders activate their credits by validating their Bilhete Único card at any validator located inside buses or at metro and train stations. The app also allows users to view their transaction history and track their purchased passes.

“Moovit’s mission is to simplify urban mobility—whether it’s guiding passengers, showing when their bus will arrive, or helping them top up their Bilhete Único,” said Nir Bezalel, Moovit’s CEO. “Moovit is used in more than 100 countries, many of which already include ticketing and payment features. We’re thrilled to bring this complete mobility experience to São Paulo’s public transit riders.”

“Our partnership with Moovit reinforces our commitment to making urban mobility more accessible,” said Rodrigo Mestres, Director of Primova Pay. “By integrating our digital top-up technology into the Moovit app, we’re giving citizens more convenience and speed, allowing them to manage another step of their daily journey simply and digitally.”
