Moovit + Mobileye = Urban Mobility Revolution!

Published: May 4, 2020

I am excited to announce that Moovit has been acquired by Intel to join forces with Mobileye. We’re thrilled to be a part of the Intel family!

Both Prof. Amnon Shashua, Intel Corp. SVP and CEO of Mobileye, and I share a vision to change the world of mobility by allowing everyone to travel everywhere with confidence in the most efficient way. We believe that mobility is a basic human right. It is the lifeline to employment, education, social life, and everything in between. When all parts of cities are connected and accessible, endless opportunities are created. As urban populations increase, it is ever more important to make getting from point A to B convenient, safe, and efficient to keep cities moving.
As Amnon and I envision the synergies and areas for collaboration between Mobileye and Moovit, we realize that we will be basically achieving each other’s dreams.

Being part of Intel, Mobileye, and the broader Intel family will allow us to offer new and innovative solutions for the benefit of citizens and cities, accelerate our joint plans to bring Mobility-as-a-Service to every city and citizen around the world.
To emphasize how strategic this transaction is to Intel and Mobileye, I will be appointed as an Executive Vice President at Mobileye and a VP at Intel Corp, while keeping my role as Moovit CEO.

The combination of Moovit’s leading urban mobility app used by millions, our deep understanding of people’s mobility usage patterns and needs, together with Mobileye’s world-leading self-driving vehicle technology, will create revolutionary transportation alternatives.
Moovit users, and our partners from all around the world, will have access to a wider range of mobility alternatives to choose from, including multi-modal routes that combine public transit, bikes, scooters, shared-cars, rider-hailing, and (ultimately) Mobileye’s fleets of self-driving vehicles. We will also offer cities better urban mobility insights, powered by Big Data and AI, to help them better understand their citizens’ mobility needs, and match them, in real-time, with the best mobility options.

The combination of our companies, teams, and products will position Intel at the forefront of the mobility world and accelerate the global adoption of autonomous transportation.

The years since Moovit was founded have been an incredible journey for us. We have proven that even a small team of about 200 employees can generate significant value to nearly one billion users in over 100 countries. This is thanks to our amazing and talented team members from all parts of the world. I would like to use this important milestone and personally thank each Moovit employee, our supportive investors, our dedicated users, the passionate members of our Moovit Community, and our great partners!

Few important clarifications:

  • Moovit is here to stay. It will be the same Moovit that you have grown to love.
  • We will continue to be a standalone company and partner with Mobileye to achieve our shared vision.
  • We will continue to serve our users, customers, and partners with the exceptional level of service, professionalism, and dedication they’ve come to expect from us.
  • I’m committed to continue and lead Moovit in the coming years, together with our executive team, providing the same focus to our mission
The Moovit consumer applications will continue under the Moovit brand.
  • We will invest even more in growing and supporting our Mooviter Community. The Community structure, levels, and processes will remain the same.
  • Finally, I’m confident that we will have more resources to do all of the above, and more, faster and better.

The possibilities of changing urban mobility are endless, and we are just getting started.

Yours,
Nir Erez
