The free app known for guiding people in getting around town using public transportation has expanded its capabilities country-wide; Moovit users now have ability to plan journeys outside of current location
Moovit, creator of the popular urban mobility app which has guided more than 1.5 billion users in 3,500 cities across 112 countries, is launching cross-regional journey planning. Moovit’s new capability enables transit riders to plan and navigate public and shared transportation journeys country-wide. Moovit is also unveiling the ability for users to plan journeys outside of their current region.
Moovit users around the world can now plan and navigate public and shared transportation journeys between cities within a country. Riders can search for, and select, routes between cities and towns that are located in different regions, wherever Moovit is available. In countries that span multiple time zones, users are currently able to plan journeys within the same time zone. For instance, Moovit users in the US can now seamlessly plan a journey from New York to Boston.
Honing in on developing more robust features for its users, Moovit is also now enabling users with the ability to plan start/end journeys in cities where they are not currently located (as long as it’s within the same country they are currently located). This is especially useful for vacation planning. For example, if a user is in Lisbon, Portugal but will soon be traveling to Porto, Portugal, they can plan and receive itinerary and guidance information for public transit journeys in Porto.
Moovit users can also benefit from Moovit’s plethora of features, including real-time arrival information so they know exactly when their bus or train is arriving, Live directions with Get Off Alerts to provide step-by-step guidance for the entire journey, and Service Alerts so they can avoid disruptions on usual lines.
“Since day one, Moovit has been committed to guiding people in getting around town effectively and conveniently using any mode of public and shared transportation,” said Ziv Kabaretti, VP Product at Moovit. “We know from our global experience that making public transit journeys more convenient, frictionless and accessible increases rider satisfaction and ultimately their loyal ridership. We’re excited to offer this new feature in response to our users’ needs and increasingly dynamic travel patterns.”
In August 2023, Moovit introduced a freemium model to begin offering Moovit+, a subscription option with exclusive features and no ads. Moovit+ features include:
