İstanbul Başakşehir FK, and Moovit, the popular urban mobility app and the football club’s selected Official Mobility Partner, are revealing the impact report that the partnership has had on improving the mobility of fans and supporters to and from stadiums — in numbers.
Since the first start of the partnership in the 2021-22 season, the Moovit app has sent over 1 million messages to İstanbul Başakşehir fans and tourists regarding 38 matches in total, in 11 different locations (including Europe), and in 3 different languages . The football club, which plays in the top division of the Turkish Super Lig, has collaborated with Moovit for over 440 days to provide sustainable mobility to Başakşehir Fatih Terim stadium in Istanbul, and across all the stadiums where the club has played in recent months. Over 5,000 minutes of football were played during this period and Moovit reached over 600 thousand tourists. Thousands of fans used Moovit’s Web Trip Planner to arrive at İstanbul Başakşehir matches at home and away. By encouraging more people to use public transport and leaving their private vehicles at home, this has made a significant impact on CO2 levels.
The partnership, which promotes journeys using multimodal transportation and sustainability, has been renewed and expanded at the beginning of the ongoing season, signifying the commitment by Moovit and Başakşehir to provide increasingly detailed information to all fans who wish to decrease their carbon footprint and impact on the environment.
Sustainable mobility, fan engagement and inclusion are the key words of this joint partnership to increase the fan experience from their front door to the stadium’s door.
Within the Moovit app, all public transport and shared transport routes are available to reach Başakşehir for home and away matches, in Turkey and abroad.
Following the results achieved, both parties are preparing a new campaign with the main focus on educating fans coming to Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium about environmental sustainability and the Club’s commitment to it. The “DID YOU KNOW” campaign will provide fans with little facts and tips to respect and save the environment. This will happen through channels such as in-stadium Moovit app notifications, in stadium advertising and social media channels following the game. The campaign has just been launched during IBFK’s last game on Sunday against Konyaspor.
