The Piedmontese capital is the second Italian city where public transport tickets can be purchased directly in the app
Turin, Italy — December 2025
Moovit, the leading commuter app, today announces the launch of GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) mobile ticket sales directly within its application. Following the successful rollout of the mobile ticketing service in Rome, Turin becomes the second Italian city where residents and visitors can plan their journey and purchase GTT travel tickets all in one app, further simplifying their daily sustainable mobility experience.
The new feature allows users to purchase and digitally validate GTT mobile tickets, making the entire travel experience more seamless and accessible, while still providing real-time updates on schedules, routes, and wait times for buses, trams, and the metro.
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Moovit, GTT, the City of Turin, and WeTechnology, the Turin-based company behind the WeTaxi app. WeTechnology, and a leader in electronic ticketing technologies, mobility service integration, and the development of intermodal platforms. WeTechnology supported the interoperability between GTT sales system and the Moovit app, ensuring a simple, secure purchase experience that complies with national standards for digital public transport ticketing.
To mark the launch, Moovit CEO Nir Bezalel visited GTT headquarters, where he met with President Antonio Fenoglio, the City’s Mobility Department, and representatives from WeTechnology to discuss the next strategic steps of the partnership aimed at making mobility in Turin increasingly digital, integrated, and sustainable
“This new collaboration is an important step for Turin in the evolution of public transport services, aligned with our goal of making the city increasingly accessible, sustainable, and attentive to people’s needs. Integrating GTT ticketing into the Moovit app will offer residents, students, and tourists a simple, immediate, and digital channel to plan their trips, receive real-time information, and purchase tickets. It is a service that particularly supports younger generations, while also incorporating key accessibility and inclusivity features,” said Chiara Foglietta, Councillor for Mobility of the City of Turin.
“After the excellent results in Rome, we are thrilled to bring mobile ticketing to Turin as well, one of Italy’s capitals of smart mobility. Moovit’s goal is to simplify the lives of people moving around the city by bringing information, planning, and payment together into one unified experience,” said Nir Bezalel, CEO of Moovit.
“Our collaboration with Moovit and WeTechnology reinforces the innovative spirit of GTT and the city of Turin. Integrating digital ticketing into an app used by millions worldwide means offering our passengers a modern, convenient, and sustainable service,” said Antonio Fenoglio, President of GTT.
“We are proud to contribute to this project, which represents a concrete step toward the digitalization of public transport in Italy. The collaboration with Moovit and GTT demonstrates how Italian technology can drive innovation and enhance the travel experience for citizens,” said Massimiliano Curto, CEO of WeTechnology.
