Highlights from Moovit’s Second Annual Community Meet-up in Italy

Published: January 28, 2020

Moovit’s super powers come from our Mooviter Community, transit enthusiasts who use Moovit tools to map their local transit lines and make it available to everyone. The cities they map account for 70% of the hundreds of cities that Moovit has launched service in, and make Moovit the “Wikipedia of Transit”.

We are really passionate about our Community and have a dedicated multi-cultural team that helps guide and support our Mooviters which are now 650,000 strong. Recently, our Global Head of Community, Leo Chanea, was selected as a finalist by the Community Industry Awards as “Online Community Professional of the Year”. The awards celebrate the achievements of great communities and their leaders.

Many of our Community members, and Community Ambassadors are based in Italy. Recently, for the second annual local Meet-up, Ambassadors from Pordenone to Siracusa came together for two days in Florence to bond over their passion for public transit, and explore the city.

The passion these Mooviters have for public transportation greatly improves urban mobility in their local communities. They help map and maintain local transit information in cities that would otherwise be unserved. Their efforts provide millions of people with access to better and more accurate transit information, and ultimately with lifelines to education, work, doctor’s appointments, and everything in between.

At this years’ Meet-up, the Ambassadors participated in a workshop about the latest happenings at Moovit and in their growing Community in Italy. The workshop was followed by a delicious Italian delicacy-pizza, of course, and an escape room where the team was able to solve all riddles to escape just in time.

On day two, the team explored the city of Florence using public transportation. They were able to validate Moovit’s data on the go, including the location of stops and stations, double checked that physical signage names and locations match those in the app, and also uploaded new images of stops and stations to ensure that users have the best guidance to find their bus stop. All in all, the trip was a success and we look forward to the event next year.

Thank you, Mooviters! Your continued passion and dedication to improving urban mobility is appreciated. Looking forward to further simplifying urban mobility, together.
