About the City

Situated at the foot of the Italian Alps, the city is known to be a hidden gem in the region. Its location means that Domodossola railway station acts as an international hub between Milan, Italy and Brig, Switzerland. 

With sights like Piazza del Mercato and Sacro Monte Calvario, it’s not just a stopping point, but also somewhere to spend some time, and explore. 

The market is also famous for its range of local food, including meat, fruit and vegetables, as well as leather goods and clothes. The produce is so good, people even travel from Switzerland for the day to shop here! It’s open from 8am-3pm every Saturday.

How to get around Domodossola

The city is just over 1 hour by train from Milan, but the stunning views of the mountains make the journey feel shorter. In addition to downloading the Moovit app, you can plan your trip using Moovit on Web, for example to find the best route between Milan Malpensa Airport to Domodossola.
