Helping keep riders safe and confident riding public transit, cities and agencies around the world have been implementing Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and contactless mobile fare solutions to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and bring riders back. With the benefits to agencies around reducing costs, safeguarding employees, and enticing riders, and thus increasing revenue, the demand on all sides for touchless payments as part of a holistic MaaS solution has never been higher.
It’s in that spirit that we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Academy Bus and Masabi, enabling safe, seamless travel for all Academy riders with the release of SilverPass. As the agency’s first mobile application, SilverPass offers a holistic route-planning, pay, and ride experience for Academy motorcoach passengers between New York City and destinations in both New York and New Jersey.
Powered by Moovit’s MaaS platform and Masabi’s Fare-Payments-as-a-Solution technology, SilverPass features both partners’ robust technology to enable riders the security and convenience of a complete MaaS experience. App users will now be armed with real-time arrival data and service alerts to keep them informed and updated, and will be able to pay in the most convenient way – with a tap of a mobile button. SilverPass is there for riders from before they leave their house until they reach their destination, with live guidance to the station and get off alerts that can help multitasking commuters remember their stop, even if they’re busy working.
Where MaaS and fare payments were all about convenience, simplicity, and choice in pre-COVID times, there is now the additional, crucial feature of promoting social distancing. It’s inspiring and hopeful to see forward-thinking agencies like Academy enable their riders to continue using public transportation safely with modern technology.
