While public transportation has become more efficient and accessible over the years, most commuters still friction when planning and paying for their journey. Riders can quickly plan their trip, but still deal with the hassle of constantly searching their pockets for change, or swiping out debit and credit cards at different payment stations when they want to hop on a bus or train, for example.
That’s why today is an exciting one for commuters across the US. From planning to payment, the public transportation experience is about to become a whole lot more convenient, thanks to our partnership with Cubic Transportation Systems, the business division of Cubic Corporation, the leading ticketing, fare collection, and management solutions company for public transit systems around the world. Cubic is the maker behind contactless fare payment systems like the OMNY Tap-and-Go in New York, and Clipper card in San Francisco, to name a few.
Together, Moovit and Cubic will co-develop mobile apps that empower riders to plan multimodal journeys, and book pay for them from a single platform. The solution will be available offered to Cubic’s customers across the US. This is extremely beneficial for those customers to offer an enhanced MaaS experience for their riders.
So, what happens next?
Cubic will integrate Moovit’s rich MaaS APIs into Cubic Traveler App to include service alerts, nearby transit service lines, multimodal trip planning and real-time arrival information. With the data, Cubic will offer a platform that integrates ticketing for the journey, and the presentation of options that are each optimized for cost, duration of trip, with filtered modes of transportation.
