This past year has not been business as usual. It’s been a time of great uncertainty around the world, especially for transit agencies, operators, and passengers. Our industry and the work we do has never been more important than in 2020.
Last year, I wrote to you that I was confident that the Moovit team would be ready to embrace the challenges of 2020 and adapt as quickly as we have always done. I had no idea that along with the new year, we would experience a global pandemic and the harsh reality that comes with it.
Yet, we were fortunate enough to make a dream come true. Moovit was acquired by Intel to join forces with Mobileye — all through the power of video chat from my home office while under lockdown. Six months later, our team is already collaborating with Mobileye on a number of projects to fulfill our mutual vision of bringing Mobility as a Service to every city and citizen around the world and accelerating the global adoption of autonomous vehicles.
I’m proud of my team for being able to roll with the punches of 2020, moving almost entirely to remote work while staying dedicated to our mission of simplifying urban mobility and helping our partners and customers suffering from the plummet in ridership. Transit agencies, operators, cities, and private companies have implemented Moovit’s COVID-19 Response Solutions, in record time thanks to our team, to help safely bring riders back and continue to provide them with the most accurate transit and urban mobility data.
Even in the midst of this year’s chaos, we’ve been able to:
Moovit will continue to focus heavily on helping our customers adapt to users’ needs as they evolve and making urban mobility simple and safe to use.
With a vaccine on the way, and a new year around the corner, may it bring renewed optimism to us all. To you and your families, I wish you a wonderful holiday season.
Cheers to new hope in 2021,
Nir Erez,
CEO, Moovit
