Riders are seeking more personalized and flexible transport journey experiences that better fit their needs, while transit agencies can implement new and sustainable systems that better serve their customers and gain their loyalty. 

That’s why Arriva, a leading provider of passenger transport in Europe, chose Moovit for its national Mobility as a Service launch in the Netherlands. Using a new app called glimble, powered by Moovit’s White Label App technology, citizens across the Netherlands are able to plan, book and pay for all public transport, shared transport and micromobility journeys. 

Glimble is a comprehensive Mobility as a Service app — public transport information, travel planning and mobile payment for all forms of public and shared transport country-wide, with cross border journey planning to come. Users are able to view real-time arrival information, receive live directions with get off alerts for step by step guidance for the entire journey, service alerts, sort Suggested Routes via cost of the journey or even by the total level of CO2 emitted.

Previously, paying for transport required riders to own the oc-chipkaart contactless card to board buses — a hassle if there were not enough credits left. Drivers were not allowed to accept cash payments and riders had to walk to a machine to top up their card and wait for the next bus. Now, glimble users can pay and validate rides with a single tap and scan of a QR code. Users can even book, pay and unlock micromobility rides with operators such as Arriva B&G, Hopperpoint and Urbee straight from the glimble app, with more to be added soon. 

This is the second time Moovit is helping to launch Mobility as a Service on a national scale, and we are honored to work with Arriva on providing Dutch citizens with everything they need to get around more conveniently. 

Glimble will soon expand to include Belgium and parts of Germany to make cross-border journey planning and payment more efficient.
