Moovit announced as NAIAS 2020 Michigan Mobility Challenge provider

Published: October 22, 2019

We are excited to announce that Moovit was selected to provide a unique and first-of-its-kind mobility app for the 2020 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Governor Gretchen Whitmer of the State of Michigan announced this today, and we are thrilled about it!

In addition to Moovit, five automated vehicle providers have been selected – Continental, NAVYA, Yandex, Local Motors by LMI, and AutoGuirdian by Smart Cone. Together we will bring automated and connected vehicle technology to residents and visitors of Detroit.

How will it work
We will create a unique mobility app for NAIAS. The app, powered by Moovit MaaS platform (Mobility-as a Service), will offer the complete functionality of the Moovit app and beyond. It will connect in real-time to the five AV providers’ servers, get the live location of each vehicle, and feed that into our world-leading multi-modal trip planner. This will allow us to offer AV routes as part of the app’s trip planning experience.

During the Auto-Show week, users of the NAIAS app will be able to experience automated vehicle riding throughout downtown Detroit.
In the app users will be able to plan trips, view all of their options, get step-by-step directions, live arrivals, as well as book their rides, whether they would like to ride on an automated shuttles buses or automated vans, a Robo-taxi, a public transit line or micro-mobility services like bikes or scooters.

This innovative mobility solution will showcase a high level of automation (Level 3 or above) with several providers featuring accessibility solutions and electrification.

Expect more news as we will get close to the auto show in June 2020.
